Oath of Office
Taking the oath of office is a key part of the inauguration. Let's take a look at the oath each President takes and break it down.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of the President of the United States, and
will hold to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Questions (please answer in complete sentences)-
Look at the “preserve, protect and defend” section.
1. Please list a minimum of 5 things that you would "preserve, protect and defend" (It can be people, principles, ideals, material items, etc.)"
2. Would you be willing to take an oath (solemn promise) about those things?
3. Now it is your turn to put it all together. Rewrite the Presidential oath using some of those things you would take an oath to "preserve, protect and defend".
