Unit 4.1 Antebellum pt 1

Following the events of the War of 1812, the United States enters a period of economic and social growth and upheaval. This period is especially marked by strong regional differences developing between the North and the South, and comes to be known as the Antebellum Era.

Essential Question: Was the Monroe Doctrine a policy of expansion or self-defense? Or: Was the Monroe Doctrine a “disguise” for American imperialism?
