Take a closer look at how economic activity in the northern colonies and the southern colonies develops differently. As one area experiences agricultural growth, the need for slave labor increases as well. While this is going on, two major social movements begin to impact life in the colonies as well, both of which hugely influence democratic ideals in early America.
