Honors English I

Message to Students

Welcome to Honors English I with Ms. Smitherman!  In this course, you will examine and analyze stories, poems, speeches, and articles from around the country and the world.  You will be transported through time and space as you learn more about others through their stories- and hopefully you will learn more about yourself through this process.  You will experience the beauty of language through poetry and literary passages.  You will learn how to better communicate, and how to better understand what others are communicating.  You will analyze texts, construct arguments, and learn more about the world in which we live.  It is my hope that you all come out of this course with the realization that YOU have limitless potential, and with the desire to use your knowledge and unlimited potential to make the world a better place.
