Pretend that you are a teenage/young adult time traveler who is being sent from 2021 to the United States of the early-to-mid 1800s. You are expected to remain in the era for a period of years, so you will become fully immersed in the lifestyle of the times. As you prepare for your journey backwards in time, what do you envision your new life being like? Where will you go and what role will you have in society? How well prepared do you feel for handling different aspects of antebellum life? What are you most concerned about? What will be the most difficult part of life to adjust to? If you could bring one modern item with you, what would you choose and why?
