WWII 1935-1945
WWII was a major turning point for America. The US was suffering from the worst economic depression. Millions were scraping by with the federal assistance programs created. As Hitler, Mussolini, & Hirohito plot world domination and collectively take over nations closest to them the US chooses not to commit Military troops. Rather we profit first getting factories running and producing goods needed for war. However, that will only last two years before something happens on our own soil.

The US has been attacked and must operate in two theaters of war. Collectively our Allies agreed that the biggest threat to the world as a whole came from the Nazi's under the leadership of Adolph Hitler. Naturally, President F.D.R. agrees to start there and will send troops to Europe. Segregation is only practiced by the US Military during this time. African Americans & Japanese Americans will serve in fighting roles but in segregated units. This was not the case for German, Italian, or Hispanic Americans.

The War in the Pacific was drastically different. The enemy had been of a very different mindset. Rather than surrender and live to fight another day, the Japanese believed that surrender was dishonor. Instead of dishonoring their family and ancestors it was better to die and take as many enemies out with them.

But for those who were fortunate enough to survive the war, coming home presented new opportunities and challenges.
