1. Answer these questions related to Lincoln's Assassination: 20pts

1. What was Booth’s Plan?
2. Why kill Lincoln? *Killing the president could disrupt the power balance enough to offer more favorable conditions to the South or even renew the Civil War.
3. What will this mean for the South? How will it effect them in terms of Reconstruction? *Without Lincoln overseeing reconstruction the transition to unifying the nation will not be smooth. Radical Republicans will force harsher conditions on the South as revenge.
4. What is Reconstruction? 
5. How long do you think it will take to Reconstruct the South? * It should have taken less time with Lincoln but only lasted 12 years as it became unfavorable in the North and economically draining.
6. What Problems Might Arise? * Jim Crow Laws, Segregation, rise of white supremacy organizations, voter suppression, the system of Sharecropping, as well as other southern measures to repress the newly freed African Americans.
