1. Read through the document.

2.  Write about 10 of the taxes listed in the link above and answer the three questions about each tax you have chosen.

• What was the purpose of the tax?
• What items did it tax specifically?
• What were the reactions by most colonist to the tax being imposed?

4. Salutary Neglect - was when the colonist had taxes to pay to the king, but those taxes were not enforced. Why did these new taxes anger the colonists so much?

5. Why do you think the new taxes were being enforced vs the taxes before? What major event just took place that the King wanted to recuperate economically from?
