In the short-lived “Era of Good Feelings” in American history, there was a time when partisan politics was less divisive than it is in current times. It was at this point that the fifth American president, James Monroe, one the election with over 80% of the electoral college vote.
Based on what you know about the 2020 election, explain why a 80% electoral college win would be difficult. Could this happen in a modern election? Why or Why not?
