Financial Friday- Taxes Part 2
The Seven Years War left Britain in massive debt. In order to repay the King and Parliament decided to tax the American Colonies. Many colonies could not pay, which left people who could paying more. This created resentment toward the Crown and Parliament.
Even in modern times, taxes are viewed as a burden and a benefit. Describe your view on taxes; benefit or burden. In your opinion, do taxes help communities or hurt them by making citizens pay for services they may not want or need. Discuss any type of taxes you have noticed in your community and where do you think that money goes.
